Equip Health is hiring a Pre-Licensed Therapist (Remote New Jersey)

About the Role

Role Overview

Equip is seeking a Pre-Licensed Therapist to provide virtual, evidence-based mental health treatment for individuals with eating disorders. This fully remote position serves patients across the lifespan through a multidisciplinary model, emphasizing family-based therapy, enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT-E), and CBT for ARFID (CBT-AR). You'll work within a collaborative care team while progressing toward independent licensure under structured clinical supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual, family, and group therapy in a telehealth environment using proven treatment models for eating disorders and co-occurring conditions.
  • Implement family-based treatment (FBT), CBT-E, and CBT-AR with fidelity, adapting approaches to meet diverse patient needs.
  • Maintain an active caseload, conducting assessments, diagnoses, and ongoing treatment planning within clinical guidelines.
  • Engage in regular supervision, team meetings, and training to support professional growth and clinical accuracy.
  • Collaborate with medical providers, dietitians, patient mentors, and external clinicians to ensure coordinated care.
  • Use secure messaging through Equip’s electronic medical record system to support patients between sessions and communicate with the care team.
  • Meet state licensure requirements, including obtaining and maintaining associate-level credentials in New Jersey and other states as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a mental health field such as counseling, social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy.
  • Eligible for or currently pursuing associate-level licensure in New Jersey.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and equitable access to mental health care.
  • Ability to deliver safe, effective therapy in a virtual setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with experience supporting diverse populations across cultures, identities, and levels of clinical severity.

Support and Development

You’ll receive fully funded supervision integrated into your work schedule, supporting your path to independent licensure. Equip covers all associated fees, including exams, study materials, and state applications. You’ll also gain access to extensive training in specialized therapies, with continuing education stipends and opportunities to attend conferences.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote role requiring 30 hours per week of direct patient care availability, including two evenings per week until 8 PM in the patient’s time zone and at least 16 weekly hours after 2 PM. You must be able to obtain and maintain pre-licensure status in states as assigned by Equip.

Benefits

  • Flexible PTO (recommended 3–5 weeks annually) plus 11 paid holidays.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance; Equip covers a significant portion of premiums.
  • 100% employer-paid mental health benefit through Spring Health, including 5 free therapy and coaching sessions annually for you and each dependent.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering mental health, legal, and financial support.
  • Healthcare concierge service via HealthJoy at no cost.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match.
  • Student loan repayment assistance: $500 per quarter for employees under one year, $1,000 per quarter thereafter.
  • Up to $1,000 annual stipend for continuing education.
  • $50 monthly internet stipend and a one-time $500 home office setup allowance.
  • Reloadable home office stipend of $200 every other year starting at year three.
  • Company-issued laptop and full reimbursement for required licensure and renewal fees.
  • Unlimited online courses for therapists and medical providers through NetCE.
