Pennsylvania State University is hiring a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Makova Lab and conduct research on mammalian genome evolution. This funded position focuses on comparative analysis of telomere-to-telomere genomes, non-canonical DNA, and sex chromosomes within a dynamic, interdisciplinary research group.
What You'll Do
- Study mammalian genome evolution.
- Conduct comparative analysis of telomere-to-telomere genomes, non-canonical DNA (non-B DNA), and sex chromosomes.
- Work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
- Validate computational findings in an experimental laboratory.
What We're Looking For
- A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data, whole-genome alignments, and assemblies.
- Familiarity with computational biology techniques and scientific programming.
- Prior experience with cloud and/or high-performance computing.
Team & Environment
You will report to Dr. Kateryna Makova as part of the Center for Medical Genomics and the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. The team maintains strong links to the Penn State College of Medicine and the Galaxy team.
