The University of Pittsburgh is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the ATLAS Experiment group. In this role, you will conduct research at the forefront of high-energy physics, focusing on precision measurements and contributing to major detector upgrades. You will become part of PITT PACC (Pittsburgh Particle Physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology Center).
What You'll Do
- Play a leading role in data analysis for precision top quark measurements and Higgs-related topics.
- Participate in operations and the HL-LHC upgrade of the trigger systems in firmware algorithm development and simulation.
- Conduct R&D using AI in custom electronics and in distributed computing.
- Conduct future collider studies.
- Write internal documentation, publish papers, and present at workshops and conferences.
- Help prepare grant applications.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
What We're Looking For
- A PhD in experimental particle physics by the time of appointment.
- Fluency in high energy physics software such as ROOT, C++, and Python.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Project management and teamwork abilities to lead a group of researchers.
