Texas A&M University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an entry-level professional role in engineering. This position performs routine scientific work, applying standardized procedures to research assignments with clear objectives. Continuation in this role is contingent upon the availability of research funding.
What You'll Do
- Carry out research tasks related to rail buckling.
- Run models and prepare code related to understanding the interplay of factors of causation.
- Write manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
- Assist in preparing grant applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting new researchers to the group.
What We're Looking For
- Must hold a Ph.D. with emphasis on nonlinear solid mechanics.
- Must be competent to model rail buckling, rail fracture, and failure of track structure due to moisture sorption using advanced finite element methods.
- Must be competent to advise Ph.D. graduate students on the nonlinear computational modeling of rail structures.
