Spartanburg Community College is hiring a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join a research team investigating the mechanisms of inflammatory diseases. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, you will conduct immunology and molecular biology research using -omics approaches, with a project focus on conditions like colitis and the effects of dietary supplements.
What You'll Do
- Perform laboratory research assessing epigenomic, genomic, and transcriptomic effects, and the microbiome following environmental pollutant and dietary supplement exposure on inflammation and cancer.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory experiments and present findings in informal discussions, group meetings, formal symposia, and publications.
- Assist in training other individuals, including students, in laboratory procedures.
- Advise principal investigators, research faculty, post-doctoral fellows, students, and technologists on current methods, ongoing experiments, and future research directions.
- Demonstrate a commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
What We're Looking For
- A Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in any biomedical or biological sciences, including Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related discipline.
- Previous research experience in immunology and/or -omics research.
- Ability to work with animals.
- Demonstrated ability to follow general wet lab practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in bioinformatic analysis.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI) and collaborate within a research-focused academic environment.
