Our Home was looking for a Plant Accountant

As a Plant Accountant, you will oversee the financial accounting functions for two manufacturing facilities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting and analysis. Your responsibilities include managing daily and weekly accounting tasks such as inventory evaluation, journal entry preparation, labor cost tracking, and participation in plant-level meetings to support operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting activities for multiple production sites, including month-end close processes and financial reporting
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and analyze variances in manufacturing costs and work orders
  • Compile and deliver monthly financial summaries to leadership for strategic review
  • Review cycle counts and physical inventory results to maintain data integrity
  • Support the design and improvement of accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls
  • Generate custom reports for plant management and assist with cross-functional initiatives
  • Participate in annual inventory audits and contribute to process standardization
  • Train and mentor new members of the accounting team as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in manufacturing accounting
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP as applied in production environments
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, and advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative, and deliver accurate results
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to support site operations

Preferred Background

  • Prior experience in a mid-sized, privately held company
  • Track record of identifying inefficiencies and implementing process automation
  • Experience overseeing accounting functions across multiple locations
