Southern California Edison (SCE) is looking for a Planning Specialist (DCP Planning, Senior Specialist) to join our team. You will be responsible for overseeing and preparing complex electrical designs, working with design contract partners, and mentoring planning Associates and Designers. Your work will directly contribute to powering our planet, reducing carbon emissions, and creating cleaner air for everyone.
What You'll Do
- Conduct long-term grid import planning analyses and transmission interconnection assessments.
- Manage large design projects from inception to construction completion, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and rules.
- Support the electrical distribution system by developing plans, identifying resources, and providing cost estimates for construction.
- Make decisions that directly impact project scope, timing, and budget.
- Perform field inspections to gather planning data and verify project compliance.
- Assess regional distribution system capabilities and compliance with planning criteria.
- Conduct power flow studies, build models, and prepare economic analyses for short- and long-term system plans.
- Ensure distribution system performance meets reliability targets and analyze outages for cause and trends.
- Coordinate with other internal personnel and organizations to ensure project compliance and follow-through.
- Stay current on industry practices, standards, and customer needs, interacting with a diverse customer base.
- Provide training and support, assessing and managing team workload as necessary.
- Ensure the protection of all company physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and manage sensitive information with the highest standards of integrity.
What We're Looking For
- Three or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution, Transmission, or Telecommunication Design, Construction, or an Engineering discipline.
- A valid Class C Driver’s License.
Nice to Have
- Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Auto Desk Utility Design (AUD), SPIDA or other pole loading programs.
- Experience managing multiple or sensitive projects under tight time constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
