This role is for a licensed Professional Engineer specializing in piping systems, responsible for leading engineering efforts on industrial capital projects. The engineer will develop and refine piping designs across all project phases—from feasibility and conceptual work to detailed engineering and startup—ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, safety practices, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead piping engineering activities, including budget and schedule oversight, for assigned projects
- Develop and apply piping specifications, design criteria, and material standards across project stages
- Interpret and apply industry codes such as ASME B31.1 and B31.3 to ensure compliance and safety
- Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to define project scope, evaluate design options, and refine solutions
- Produce and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and orthographic plans to support design accuracy
- Participate in process hazard analyses (PHA/HAZOP) as a representative of the engineering team
- Perform material and energy balances to support system design
- Contribute to equipment specifications and procurement documentation
- Travel to project sites as needed for field verification, design validation, and startup support
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers while managing multiple project responsibilities
Qualifications
Candidates must be licensed Professional Engineers with demonstrated experience in industrial piping design. Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, along with a solid understanding of valve and fitting selection, material specifications, and support design. Experience in retrofit projects and field dimensioning is essential. The ideal candidate reads and creates technical drawings confidently and communicates effectively with team members and clients.
Preferred skills include 3D modeling experience using CADWorx Plant 3D and NavisWorks, which supports clash detection and design coordination. Familiarity with these tools enhances project efficiency and integration across disciplines.
Work Environment
