M&T Bank and Brigham and Women's Hospital are seeking a Physician Assistant I for the Cardiac Surgery Inpatient service. You will provide direct patient care on a 24/7 PA-run service, working 13-hour rotating day/night shifts in the cardiac surgery ICU and step-down units. This is a rotating shift position requiring nights, weekends, and holidays.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to patients in the cardiac surgery department
- Assist surgeons in the operating room, performing technical clinical procedures
- Perform complete histories and physical examinations
- Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Develop appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings
- Order medications and write prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies
- Provide high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries
- Perform bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
- May precept a small number of learners
- Act as a responding clinician for patients with ventricular assist devices
What We're Looking For
- Master's Degree Physician Assistant
- Physician Assistant State License
- BLS/ACLS certification
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of experience as a PA
- For new graduates: cardiac/cardiac surgery and ICU rotation or relevant work experience mandatory
Team & Environment
You will work with cardiac surgeons and ICU staff within the BWH Cardiac Surgery Service, which is a 24/7 PA-run service.
Work Mode
This position is onsite at 75 Francis Street.
