Vynca is looking for a Physician to deliver high-quality palliative care to patients living with serious illness. Working primarily via video conference, you will function independently with dedicated team support to manage complex cases, lead holistic care plans, and collaborate with a network of providers.
What You'll Do
- Provide palliative care for patients via phone and video conferencing per established care plans.
- Perform age-appropriate history and physical exams for complex palliative patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures aligned with clinical needs.
- Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments for symptom management and quality of life.
- Implement interventions to support physiologic stability in collaboration with other providers and agencies.
- Educate patients, family members, and caregivers regarding medical problems and complex shared decision making.
- Facilitate the patient’s transition within and between health care settings.
- Ensure timely referrals to hospice when a patient meets eligibility criteria.
- Provide leadership to the Interdisciplinary Team for complex holistic care assessments and plans.
- Understand Medicare reimbursement and coding for all levels of service.
- Submit accurate coding and billing information for each patient interaction.
- Complete documentation within established agency guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as collaborating physician to Vynca nurse practitioners.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.
- Participate in peer review, chart review, Quality Assurance activities, and clinical training sessions.
- Assume other duties in support of Vynca’s needs as directed.
What We're Looking For
- Possession of a valid and relevant California professional license to practice medicine, with the ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed.
- Current American Board of Specialties (ABMS) certification or proof of extensive training as a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Specialist.
- Possession of a valid DEA certificate.
- Basic CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of current recognized standards of care within the scope of licensure.
- Demonstrated ability to practice medicine with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- General computer skills and a working knowledge of word processing programs including MS Office.
- Ability to independently learn and use Google Suite, the internet, video conferencing software, and complex electronic medical records systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities working with a diverse patient population.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
- Ability to multi-task, including rapidly switching from a task to handle emergency situations.
- Ability to work occasionally beyond normal hours as needed to complete projects or cases.
- Must maintain an unencumbered license to practice in the state of California, and ability to obtain additional state licensure.
