About the Role

Univision is hiring a Photographer II for our news team. You'll be responsible for shooting video and audio of news events for both live and recorded TV productions. You'll edit material to match scripts using non-linear, computer-based editing in the field and at our facilities.

What You'll Do

  • Shoot and edit assigned and breaking news stories using ENG camera and non-linear editing equipment, with or without a reporter.
  • Set up three and four point lighting for sit-down interviews.
  • Manage multi-camera and audio setups for productions.
  • Shoot and edit special assignments and series as needed.
  • Provide pictures and short videos from the field for Social Media platforms.
  • Set up Live U equipment for live remote shoots, following protocol for connectivity and quality checks with the control room.
  • Assist video editors in preparing video for newscasts using a server-based editing and playback system.
  • Operate and maintain news vehicles and equipment safely and professionally.
  • Perform routine maintenance and light troubleshooting on assigned equipment.
  • Upload video, digital pictures, and copy to the station’s website when required.
  • Travel for special assignments and coverage as needed.
  • Interact constantly with engineering and production departments, and be in daily contact with the public and officials.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

What We're Looking For

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, with excellent personal interaction skills.
  • Detail-oriented, able to follow directions and make independent decisions.
  • Valid Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including holidays, weekends, evenings, and during inclement weather such as hurricanes.
  • Personal computer experience required, including non-linear editing.
  • Knowledge of lighting techniques.
  • Able to lift and carry broadcast video equipment (approximately 50 pounds).
  • Able to drive a vehicle, bend, and set up equipment for remotes to transmit video, audio, pictures, or live reports.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Possess vision and hearing acuity, and clear, audible speech.
  • Manual dexterity in the use of keyboard, videotape machines, cameras, and other broadcast equipment.
  • Able to work in outdoor and inclement weather conditions.

Nice to Have

  • 4 or more years working as a news photographer in a TV news or similar environment.

Team & Environment

You will have continuous interaction with news reporters and other photographers. You will work closely with producers, the assignment desk, and video editors.
