As a Philanthropic Advisor, you will lead the development and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies for a portfolio of 100–125 high-capacity donors, focusing on securing outright and planned gifts of $100,000 or more. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, you will play a central role in advancing institutional priorities through personalized donor engagement and strategic solicitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement tailored strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects with the capacity for significant financial support.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships through consistent, donor-centered communication via in-person meetings, correspondence, and digital outreach.
- Collaborate with academic leaders, faculty, and administrators to align fundraising initiatives with institutional goals and academic priorities.
- Develop proposals and gift agreements that reflect donor interests and institutional needs, ensuring compliance with advancement policies and protocols.
- Travel as needed to meet donors and represent the institution at events, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Work closely with Alumni and Parent Relations teams to strengthen engagement and giving programs.
- Stay informed on trends in philanthropy and apply best practices in higher education fundraising.
- Support a campus-wide culture of generosity, fostering pride in the institution’s mission and leadership.
- Maintain accurate records and performance metrics, meeting annual fundraising and outreach goals.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, along with at least five years of experience in major gifts fundraising within a complex academic or nonprofit environment. Candidates must have a demonstrated track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to navigate sensitive, confidential discussions with discretion and tact. Exceptional organizational abilities, critical thinking, and communication skills are essential. Experience in higher education or a capital campaign is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, hybrid position with the expectation of an initial on-campus period of 30 days. Remote work of up to two days per week is permitted during academic and non-academic periods, subject to approval and institutional requirements. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though flexibility is expected to accommodate donor and college needs.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this role is $135,000–$150,000. The position is benefits-eligible and offers remote work flexibility under institutional guidelines.
