About the Role

Shields Health Solutions is looking for a Pharmacy Liaison to provide integrated off-site support to patients, pharmacists, and providers. You will deliver a full-service approach to total quality patient care by working closely with patients to ensure medication adherence and encouraging the use of the hospital partner pharmacy.

What You'll Do

  • Provide legendary care to hospital patients by delivering a full suite of custom medication management services.
  • Serve as an off-site member of the clinic team providing prior authorization, financial assistance, patient medication on-boarding, and refill/renewal support.
  • Educate prospective pharmacy patients on how the hospital pharmacy serves patients and improves their overall care.
  • Handle all medication needs of patients.
  • Grow the specialty pharmacy's patient population by adhering to Shields' programs and processes.
  • Resolve insurance issues, complete benefit investigations, and act as an agent of the provider for prior authorizations.
  • Review patient need for and secure financial assistance when available.
  • Document patient information within the hospital EMR, Therigy, and all Shields proprietary tools.
  • Ensure patients remain on track with medications through outbound adherence check-ups and prescription refills.
  • Secure prescription renewals.
  • Communicate directly with patients to assist in their medication awareness.
  • Identify medications requiring special storage or handling, such as hazardous or refrigerated drugs.
  • Identify necessary supplies for select medications, like sharps containers or needles.
  • Answer, resolve, and triage inbound inquiries.
  • Achieve operational objectives by inputting data, performing adjudication on test claims, and preparing action plans.
  • Apply observations to address operational issues and improve productivity, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Update knowledge through educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining professional networks.

What We're Looking For

  • State registration as a pharmacy technician (Tennessee license required).
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice to Have

  • National certification as a CPhT or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience and knowledge in working with one or more of the following disease states: transplant, hepatitis C, infectious disease (including HIV), diabetes, MS, oncology.

Technical Stack

  • Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Hospital EMR systems.
  • Therigy.
  • Shields proprietary tools.

Team & Environment

You will serve as an off-site member of the clinic team.

This position is onsite.
