On-site Employment

CVS Health is hiring a Pharmacy Intern

About the Role

Fresenius Kidney Care is looking for a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional pharmacy practice. Under the direct supervision of a licensed preceptor, you will follow a comprehensive training roadmap to develop core competencies and gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations.

What You'll Do

  • Complete a structured training roadmap with Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) to build aptitude for a future Pharmacist role.
  • Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring smooth, safe, and accurate prescription fulfillment across all workflow stations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
  • Apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication as an integrated member of the pharmacy team.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care to create personalized moments.
  • Offer patient counseling, field medical questions, and solicit patient medical history under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify details as permitted by state regulation.
  • Perform basic inventory activities as directed, such as receiving deliveries and completing cycle counts.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services like immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowable by law and upon completion of required training.
  • Support immunization services by obtaining Technician Immunizer licensure/training, educating patients, monitoring for reactions, and tracking patient information.
  • Contribute to a high-performing team by embracing a growth mindset and being receptive to feedback.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores in the market as required.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and company policies.

What We're Looking For

  • Acceptance into, or active enrollment in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
  • Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, valid pharmacy intern and/or technician licensure as required.
  • Commitment to regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete all required training within designated timeframes.
  • Strong attention and focus: the ability to concentrate on a task over time and pivot quickly between different tasks.
  • A customer service and team orientation: actively looking for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
  • Effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues.
  • Mathematical reasoning skills to solve problems such as determining a medication's day's supply.
  • Problem resolution skills to identify challenging interactions and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to meet physical demands: remain mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; perform repetitive finger work; and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

Nice to Have

  • 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability and willingness to become immunization certified to provide patient immunizations.
  • Flexibility to work in your home store and across other market locations to meet business needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Team & Environment

You will work under the direction of a preceptor and collaborate closely with the broader pharmacy team to support daily operations and patient care.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: $18.50 - $20.25 per hour.
