Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the San Francisco office while expanding the Bay Area presence; coordinate team lunches, in-person events, and manage the physical workspace including snacks, supplies, vendors, improvements, and equipment; lead the office relocation if the current space is outgrown.
- Manage candidate scheduling and communication across all interview stages using Ashby; conduct initial candidate calls for selected searches alongside the Lead Recruiter.
- Oversee the transition from candidate to new hire by handling offer letter signatures, background checks, equipment setup, system access, first-day planning, and new hire welcome activities.
- Assist with core HR processes by maintaining HRIS data accuracy, supporting audit preparation, processing compensation changes during review cycles, and serving as backup for the Senior People Operations Partner on payroll and benefits administration.
- Organize events and cultural initiatives across the company; lead in-person social gatherings in the San Francisco office and support leaders bringing teams together in the city; assist the Senior People Operations Partner with planning the annual company retreat and designing virtual experiences for remote employees.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in recruiting coordination (scheduling, ATS management, candidate communication) or people operations (payroll/benefits, HRIS administration, office management).
- Proven ability to execute critical workflows at scale with precision and attention to detail, particularly time-sensitive processes such as onboarding and offboarding.
- Strong event planning skills with the ability to design thoughtful virtual and in-person experiences that are creative and engaging.
- Adopter mindset toward artificial intelligence, with AI tools already integrated into daily work routines.
- Willingness to be the face of Check's San Francisco office, working at least 2 days per week in-office (core days: Tuesday and Thursday) plus additional days as needed.
- Familiarity with the People Team technology stack: Ashby, Eddy, Slack, Notion, Google Workspace, and Claude Cowork.

- Direct experience with payroll processing, compensation administration, or benefits workflows.
- Experience setting up a new office space or coordinating an office move.

- Travel & Office Policy: The Check team is distributed across the US. Roles can be remote, hybrid, or based in one of our offices in New York City or San Francisco.
