Central is hiring a Payroll Tax Specialist

About the Role

This role is responsible for maintaining payroll tax accuracy, preparing regulatory filings, and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and reconcile payroll tax liabilities across various regions
  • Prepare and submit federal, state, and local payroll tax returns
  • Respond to tax notices and inquiries from government agencies
  • Maintain up-to-date records of tax rates, regulations, and deadlines
  • Collaborate with payroll team to ensure accurate tax withholdings
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation impacting payroll compliance
  • Support audits by providing accurate tax documentation
  • Ensure timely deposits of payroll tax payments
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies in tax filings or payments
  • Use tax software to automate and verify reporting accuracy
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors when necessary
  • Track filing deadlines across multiple jurisdictions
  • Verify new hire reporting compliance
  • Assist in year-end payroll tax reporting processes
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial data
  • Provide guidance on payroll tax implications of policy changes
  • Generate recurring tax reports for internal stakeholders
  • Validate accuracy of third-party tax forms
  • Support system upgrades affecting payroll tax functions
  • Document procedures for payroll tax workflows

Nice to Have

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential
  • Experience with automated payroll systems
  • Prior work in a corporate or shared services environment
  • Knowledge of unemployment insurance tax processes
  • Familiarity with nexus and multi-state tax rules
