This temporary position focuses on end-to-end payroll execution for a multi-state and international workforce, ensuring timely and accurate compensation disbursement. The specialist handles payroll data entry, auditing, and post-processing reporting, with responsibility for both U.S. and UK payrolls as applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll cycles, including data validation, auditing, and final reporting
- Reconcile payroll figures with funding sources and assist in general ledger reconciliation
- Manage employee status updates, timekeeping adjustments, meal waivers, and stipend payments
- Administer changes to 401(k) deferrals and loan repayments
- Calculate and issue final pay for departing employees
- Process wage garnishments and respond to agency inquiries
- Maintain time-off policies and system assignments
- Produce overtime summaries and other payroll reports for leadership review
- Generate recurring and on-demand reports for HR, Finance, and management teams
- Support audit readiness by maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Respond to employee and supervisor questions about pay, timecards, and leave requests
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in multi-state payroll processing
- Familiarity with payroll reconciliation methods and reporting standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Tables
- High accuracy and discretion when handling sensitive data
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-moving environment
Work Environment
This role is remote but requires proximity to the Los Angeles office. The specialist must be available to report onsite for specific projects or meetings as needed.
Compensation
Hourly rate ranges from $28.85 to $38.46, based on experience.
