BASF is seeking a Payroll & People Data Analyst to join our team in Malaysia. In this role, you will provide essential support, services, and solutions for payroll, HR data, systems, and processes, working to understand business needs and ensure data integrity.
What You'll Do
- Ensure data quality and integrity for all Payroll and HR data processes.
- Receive, analyze, process, and follow up on personnel administration requests via multiple channels, ensuring accurate and timely interface to processing chains.
- Manage the entire termination workflow, including calculations, documentation, systems updates, and exit clearance.
- Administer time and attendance, including manual calculations for allowances/deductions, and maintain work schedules, leaves, overtimes, and shift substitutions.
- Support payroll input delivery and administration for items like employee subsidies, fleet management, and long service awards.
- Support salary review exercises through data preparation, letter generation, and new salary processing.
- Handle local labor administrative activities and scheduled statutory HR reporting, ensuring timely and compliant delivery.
- Respond to business needs by designing and delivering country-specific or customized reports.
- Work closely with other teams and external providers to ensure service requests are completed accurately and on time.
- Provide advisory support on employee enquiries, policy clarifications, HR processes, system guides, and legislation.
- Monitor service requests to ensure delivery meets established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Perform research on local market HR news, legislation updates, and guidelines to maintain the internal knowledge database.
- Analyze, clarify, and resolve operational issues in collaboration with Country HR and Regional HR Business Partners.
- Continuously review and update knowledge documents to develop a competence hub for Payroll and People data.
- Identify opportunities, prepare business cases, and participate in digitalization and process optimization initiatives.
- Actively work on implementing process improvements, automation, and digitalization measures.
- Drive initiatives to improve service experience.
- Identify deviations from established blueprints in Payroll and HR data processes and escalate to Assistant Manager and Manager.
- Provide input and participate in user acceptance testing for system maintenance and upgrades.
- Contribute to a knowledge-sharing environment and assist in orientation training, acting as a buddy to new team members.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Commerce, Business Administration, or Finance.
- 1–2 years of related HR working experience in Payroll and HR Operations.
- A good level of proficiency in the language and culture of the supported country/location.
- Strong processing skills and analytical abilities, with an inclination for Mathematics, Finance, or problem-solving.
- A service mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Functional knowledge and skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Nice to Have
- Experience in relevant HR procedures, practices, and country statutory requirements.
- Working knowledge of integrated payroll systems, preferably SAP.
- Understanding of HR principles and/or Employee Laws of the supported country/location.
