Brave Health is hiring a Payroll & HR Operations Specialist to ensure the smooth execution of HR Ops processes, with a focus on payroll, employee lifecycle management, and data integrity. In this role, you will be pivotal in supporting our mission to expand access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and process semi-monthly, bi-weekly, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls for salaried and hourly employees.
- Ensure accuracy in employee data, pay adjustments, deductions, and tax compliance across multiple states.
- Maintain up-to-date payroll records and systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with all regulations.
- Perform routine audits of payroll deductions, pay rates, tax data, and time & attendance systems.
- Generate and maintain standard and ad-hoc payroll reports for month-end close, state and federal reporting, and audits.
- Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely and confidential manner.
- Support employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, promotions, and internal transfers.
- Administer and audit employee benefit programs and assist with leave administration.
- Assist with HR system implementations, upgrades, process improvements, and compliance audits.
- Provide support to employees regarding HR Ops questions, policies, and processes.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll processing, or a related role.
- In-depth understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and benefits administration.
- Familiarity with HR compliance and employment regulations.
- Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
- Skilled in resolving employee questions effectively and confidentially, with empathy and clear communication.
- A passion for process improvements and exploring tools to improve automation and efficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) as well as Gsuite, GMail and Google Sheets.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with BambooHR preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment preferred.
