About the Role

Brave Health is hiring a Payroll & HR Operations Specialist to ensure the smooth execution of HR Ops processes, with a focus on payroll, employee lifecycle management, and data integrity. In this role, you will be pivotal in supporting our mission to expand access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and process semi-monthly, bi-weekly, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Ensure accuracy in employee data, pay adjustments, deductions, and tax compliance across multiple states.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records and systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with all regulations.
  • Perform routine audits of payroll deductions, pay rates, tax data, and time & attendance systems.
  • Generate and maintain standard and ad-hoc payroll reports for month-end close, state and federal reporting, and audits.
  • Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Support employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, promotions, and internal transfers.
  • Administer and audit employee benefit programs and assist with leave administration.
  • Assist with HR system implementations, upgrades, process improvements, and compliance audits.
  • Provide support to employees regarding HR Ops questions, policies, and processes.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll processing, or a related role.
  • In-depth understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with HR compliance and employment regulations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
  • Skilled in resolving employee questions effectively and confidentially, with empathy and clear communication.
  • A passion for process improvements and exploring tools to improve automation and efficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) as well as Gsuite, GMail and Google Sheets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with BambooHR preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment preferred.
