Role Overview
As a Patient Engagement Specialist, you will serve as the first point of contact for individuals referred to a virtual musculoskeletal (MSK) care program. Working remotely on a part-time basis, you’ll help patients understand their care options, verify eligibility, and schedule initial clinical evaluations. This role is essential in guiding patients through the early stages of their journey with clarity and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Make outbound calls to introduce care services and follow up with referred patients
- Respond to incoming calls, providing clear answers to patient questions
- Explain MSK care pathways in an accessible, supportive manner
- Confirm patient eligibility and coordinate initial appointments
- Record all interactions accurately in CRM and documentation systems
- Escalate complex cases to the appropriate internal teams
- Identify ways to improve outreach strategies and patient onboarding
- Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA and other regulatory standards
Qualifications
Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree preferred. One to three years of experience in healthcare customer service, patient scheduling, or call center operations is required. You must be comfortable communicating over the phone, explaining health services clearly, and managing multiple tasks with precision.
Experience with CRM platforms, scheduling tools, and documentation systems is essential. Familiarity with telehealth, digital health platforms, or musculoskeletal care is an advantage. Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are encouraged to apply.
