Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is looking for a Patient Care Technician to join the team at Allegheny Valley Hospital. In this role, you will provide direct care to patients and assist with unit coordination, performing basic nursing procedures for stable patients and supporting RNs in the care of more acute patients.
What You'll Do
- Provide, obtain, perform, and document direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, intake and output, and patient transport.
- Perform point-of-care testing including blood glucose checks and bladder scanning.
- Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives like bedside shift report, hourly rounding, falls prevention, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Accurately document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, and all other treatments, reporting changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Assist with patient exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Participate in unit activities including supply stocking and equipment cleaning, checks, and retrieval.
- Maintain the patient/family environment and general unit upkeep.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematics.
- Basic computer skills.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Nice to Have
- Acute care experience within the last 3 years.
- Current enrollment in an ASN or BSN program, with preference given to those who have completed at least one clinical rotation.
Team & Environment
You will work under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse for stable patients and under direct supervision for acutely ill or complex patients. You will receive assignments from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights.
