Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the 12A Cardiac Telemetry unit at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) in a full-time capacity. This role provides essential direct care to patients and assists with unit coordination activities. You will perform basic nursing procedures for stable patients, assist Registered Nurses with acutely ill patients, and support the unit’s flow.

What You'll Do

• Provide, obtain, perform, and document direct patient care including activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, intake and output, and point-of-care testing.
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report, hourly rounding, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Accurately document all care and report changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
• Support unit operations by stocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and maintaining the patient care environment.
• Use effective verbal and written communication, documenting appropriately in the electronic medical record.
• Respond appropriately during emergency situations.
• Demonstrate efficient time management by completing work within scheduled shifts.

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform basic mathematics
• Basic computer skills
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Nice to Have

• Acute care experience within the last 3 years
• Current enrollment in an ASN or BSN program, with preference given to those who have completed at least one clinical rotation

Team & Environment

You will work under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse for stable patients and under direct supervision for acutely ill patients. Specific work assignments are received from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader.

This is an onsite position located at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH).
