Ochsner Health is looking for a Patient Care Assistant to join our team in Hancock. This PRN role works collaboratively to maintain patient safety and provide essential care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. What You'll Do
- Support the plan of care as delegated by the staff nurse within your verified scope of skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
- Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-specific criteria.
- Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Complete documentation of patient-related tasks.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and using appropriate communication.
- Provide constant observation of patients, notify nursing personnel of changes, and intervene to maintain patient safety.
What We're Looking For
- Current state certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call).
Nice to Have
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Hospital and telemetry experience.
