Vaughan Regional Medical Center, part of ScionHealth, is seeking a Patient Account Rep to ensure the efficient admission of patients and accurate management of their accounts. Under the supervision of the Business Office Manager, you will play a key role in the revenue cycle by processing billing, resolving inquiries, and maintaining financial records.
What You'll Do
- Accurately and efficiently process patient accounts, including billing, collections, and payment posting.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries from patients, insurance carriers, and internal departments.
- Prepare and submit claims using billing systems; work claim edits and rejections.
- Follow up on unpaid accounts and perform collections activities as appropriate.
- Research and apply unidentified payments.
- Balance daily cash posting and reconcile discrepancies.
- File appeals and reconsideration requests as per department protocol.
- Identify and report overpayments; ensure appropriate refunds.
- Participate in A/R clean-up projects and other revenue cycle initiatives.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while managing daily work queues.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability in completing assignments.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic general accounting and bookkeeping knowledge.
- Knowledge of medical billing practices and medical terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrates flexibility and teamwork across all business office functions.
Nice to Have
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years in Hospital admissions procedures.
- Experience with systems such as Epic and SSI.
- Operates 10-key pad efficiently (for cash posting roles).
