Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is looking for a Patient Access Specialist who embodies our mission and values. In this role, you will provide the first impression of Northwestern Medicine by delivering exceptional customer service while managing scheduling, insurance verification, and patient financial information.
What You'll Do
- Consistently practice a Patients First philosophy and maintain high customer service standards.
- Schedule appointments and proactively reach out to patients to fill schedules.
- Accurately collect, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Perform medical necessity checks and communicate options to patients when appointments fail.
- Complete out-of-pocket cost estimations and inform patients of any financial account issues.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefit levels using online tools and phone calls.
- Utilize the Epic system for accurate scheduling notes and quality patient communication.
- Proactively prevent visit issues by confirming test details, preps, times, and locations.
- Monitor registration and scheduling quality, analyzing accounts to identify and resolve problems.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement and assurance reviews.
- Act as a training resource for new staff and a knowledge resource for coworkers.
- Use effective service recovery skills to solve patient service problems.

- Must reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, or Wisconsin.
