Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a Part-Time Veterinarian to provide compassionate, gentle in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care for pets. You will focus on supporting families and their pets during end-of-life moments in a low-stress, purpose-driven environment, working independently in the field while being supported by our collaborative medical leadership team and operational infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Provide in-home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free–aligned manner.
- Support families through the end-of-life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams.
- Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development.
- Guide families in making end-of-life decisions for their pets.
- Build relationships with local veterinary clinics, serving as an extension of their care.
What We're Looking For
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school.
- Active (or ability to obtain) veterinary license in the state of practice.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Candidates will be subject to a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check post-hire.
Nice to Have
- Experience in hospice, palliative care, or Fear Free certification is a plus.
