Responsibilities
- Operate school transportation equipment such as a van or bus to transport students to and from school
- Manage classroom behaviors within the classroom environment
- Report behavioral concerns of students to the appropriate staff members
- Implement and maintain behavioral program policies and associated data
- Maintain classroom order and ensure safety and security
- Provide general supervision of students within the school setting
- Assist in preventing and managing incidents of non-compliance or behavioral escalation
- Stay alert for issues that may disrupt the educational process or pose safety risks, and correct or report these conditions
- Respond to emergency situations as they arise
- Provide interventions to help students manage their behaviors
- Think quickly, independently, and tactfully in various situations
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement
- Must be age 23 or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be punctual and have good attendance
- Established work history in transportation with demonstrated length of stay in jobs
- Patience and willingness to work with students who require behavioral and emotional support
- Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Pass drug and criminal background screening procedures
Nice to Have
- CDL-B is preferred but not required
- Paraprofessional Certification is ideal but not required
