The University of Miami is hiring a Contracts and Grants Officer 1 to provide institutional-level sponsored research administration services across all campuses. Working within the Office of Research Administration, you will negotiate research contracts in accordance with agency requirements and university policy.
What You'll Do
- Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate subaward terms and conditions on behalf of the University.
- Conduct subrecipient risk assessments, including reviewing audits consistent with University guidelines.
- Provide guidance, support, and advice to faculty and staff regarding sponsored research administration issues.
- Interpret a broad range of internal and external policies, government regulations, and terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with other University units such as IRB, Risk Management, Technology Transfer, Export Control, and General Counsel.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures to safeguard University assets.
- Remain abreast of regulatory changes relevant to the subaward portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in contracting.
- Knowledge of research contracting standards, Federal regulations, and administrative law research.
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with outstanding customer service skills.
- Demonstrated professional experience and judgment to serve faculty while protecting University interests.
- Ability to work well under deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, customer service, collegiality, or ethics.
- Strong analytical contract and negotiation skills.
Nice to Have
- CRA certification.
- Experience with sponsored research, unfunded research (CDAs, MTAs, DTUAs, unfunded collaborations), and outbound subaward agreement with subrecipient monitoring and risk assessment.

This role is part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research & Scholarship, specifically within the Office of Research Administration (ORA).
