Southern California Edison is hiring an Operator Control to operate and maintain a diverse fleet of natural gas power plants and battery energy storage facilities. You will ensure reliable and efficient system operation, helping to reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air.
What You'll Do
- Safely and efficiently control and direct the loading of electrical generators and battery energy storage systems.
- Determine station equipment status from shift personnel, logbook entries, and inspection of instruments on the Digital Control System (DCS).
- Remotely operate equipment from the DCS while directing Operator Mechanics in local equipment operation.
- Observe, document, and determine corrective actions for abnormal plant operating conditions.
- Formally communicate plant status with the Generation Operations Center Grid Control Center and leadership.
- Read and record data from instruments, compile records and reports, and maintain detailed logs.
- Perform general cleaning, housekeeping duties, and minor maintenance on plant systems.
- Train and assist other operators as required.
- Issue and approve work authorizations including clearances, permissions, and approvals.
- Ensure the protection of all company physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, including customer data and proprietary information.
What We're Looking For
- Two or more years of recent Control Room Operator experience at a commercial power plant.
- A valid Driver's License.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of Combined Cycle and Simple Cycle thermal power plants.
- Knowledge of commercial Battery Energy Storage Systems.
- Experience with nomenclature and function of station equipment, including turbine generators, boilers, heat recovery steam generators, auxiliaries, instrumentation, control systems, piping, and switchgear.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Emerson Ovation, GE Mark 6e, Wonderware, RS Logix, programmable logic controllers, and other digital control systems.
- Experience in power plant chemistry and water treatment processes.
