U-Haul is hiring an Operations Supervisor for the 2nd shift within a dynamic warehouse distribution center. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a represented workforce team, and ensuring excellence in inventory, quality control, and inbound shipments. You must be able to rotate between first and second shift schedules based on evolving business needs.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate expertise in core processes and ensure team performance using standardized methods.
- Motivate a team through effective communication, training, coaching, development, and recognition.
- Identify improvement opportunities utilizing tools like layered process audits.
- Achieve key performance indicators for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost.
- Cultivate a safety-first culture and enforce workplace safety rules and policies.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and GMS standards.
- Model cultural behaviors and demonstrate the highest level of integrity.
- Maintain good working relationships and communicate effectively with employees, union representatives, and management.
- Evaluate team performance and promote continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate quality goals and leverage resources to solve problems.
- Understand and consistently administer company policies.
- Complete administrative tasks such as timekeeping and maintaining departmental records.
- Train, develop, and evaluate employees.
- Monitor distribution center performance reports and costs.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift as determined by business needs.
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends as required.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze operational data.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Nice to Have
- Previous supervisory experience in a union environment.
- 3-5 years of experience supervising employees in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics setting.
