Celestica is hiring an Operations Engineering Advisor to apply specialized expertise in solving diverse and complex problems within our manufacturing operations. This is the first full level of specialization, where you will analyze data, lead improvement initiatives, and work with cross-functional teams to enhance process quality and reliability.
What You'll Do
- Document, maintain, and improve process implementations.
- Provide advanced technical expertise for production or customer-identified material problems.
- Maintain material quality to ensure cost and delivery targets are met.
- Visit suppliers to evaluate their process controls and reliability programs.
- Provide quality and reliability performance data to suppliers and internal management.
- Perform supplier assessments and risk analysis, making recommendations on supplier selection.
- Work with suppliers to improve overall assembly yield and material quality.
- Define process problems that lead to throughput or quality issues.
- Determine root causes and implement short- and long-term solutions to stabilize processes.
- Lead the selection of new manufacturing equipment.
- Evaluate software and hardware upgrades and new equipment.
- Define, evaluate, and implement process control standards for equipment and products.
- Gather, analyze, sort, and distribute data to understand and solve quality issues.
- Utilize quality tools and team problem-solving methods to drive root cause analysis and implement improvements.
- Work directly with customers to resolve systemic process problems.
- Analyze feasibility for acquiring new assembly/test technology and prepare technical reports.
What We're Looking For
- Six to eight years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the design process for systems, printed circuit boards, and subassemblies.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, quality standards, and SPC methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of materials and components used in system and PCB construction.
- In-depth knowledge of material science, robotics, and machine programming.
- In-depth knowledge of product pricing, contracts, and contract negotiations.
- Excellent customer contact, negotiation, and problem resolution skills.
- Good presentation, database management, and computer skills.
- Strong knowledge of statistical process control methods and techniques.
- Ability to design tests, evaluate results, and recommend solutions for SMT and optical manufacturing processes.
- Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot problems.
- Strong knowledge of IT platforms, database design, and programming languages.
- Ability to evaluate materials, gather and analyze data, and determine root causes.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and coordinate multiple, changing deadlines.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external customers.
