NBCUniversal is hiring an experienced OpenShift/Kubernetes Engineer to join the team managing the container platform. You will bring expert knowledge of OpenShift/Kubernetes, focusing on automation, cluster deployment best practices, and evaluating new technologies for platform improvement.
What You'll Do
- Automate the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of OpenShift clusters using custom pipelines.
- Review new cluster configurations and pipelines for effectiveness and non-disruptive implementation.
- Identify, recommend, and implement upgrades to maintain system functionality and optimal performance.
- Lead infrastructure automation and continuous deployment efforts using CI/CD pipelines.
- Document new services and infrastructure while ensuring existing documentation is accurate.
- Work closely with Technology management, senior engineers, and support teams to implement technical solutions.
- Engage in infrastructure architecture, design, research, development of new systems, and creation of technology standards.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to engineers, technicians, and integrators.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of bank applications, systems, and vendor technologies.
- Continuously expand knowledge of Financial Services trends, practices, and technologies.
- Coordinate vendor interactions and support tickets as required.
- Follow and promote the use of industry best practices, standards, and procedures.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture.
- Hands-on experience with container technologies using OpenShift/Kubernetes.
- A strong understanding of the system development lifecycle, infrastructure architecture, vendor best practices, IT Service Management, and systems design.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Managing Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8 years of professional experience in a technical engineering role involving infrastructure design, data management, and system development.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into high-quality implementations using industry-standard approaches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Expert knowledge and experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes and Podman/Docker (build, configure, support).
- In-depth knowledge of Linux systems and configuration.
- Ability to write sustainable scripts using Python, Perl, or Bash.
- Experience with automation using Ansible playbooks and/or Terraform.
- Advanced knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Red Hat Openshift (ARO).
- In-depth experience using GitOps (ArgoCD) to configure and maintain Kubernetes clusters at scale.
