WSP USA Inc. is looking for an On-call Structural Steel Inspector for a long-term assignment requiring immediate availability. This technical field and office position involves significant travel within the US and sometimes to Canada, inspecting structural components on various projects.
What You'll Do
- Inspect welding, steel fabrication, coatings, expansion joints, bridge bearings, sign structures, bridge beams, drainage structures, and other structural components.
- Monitor fabrication and field work for compliance with approved shop drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Communicate and interact with owners, fabricators, engineers, and other inspectors and NDT technicians.
- Write daily shop and field reports in digital format.
- Participate in company safety meetings.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 9+ years of relevant experience.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification.
- Experience performing QA/QC during structural steel fabrication.
- Dependability, honesty, and integrity.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with others, with strong decision-making skills and a self-starter attitude.
- Willingness to travel as needed, including overnight stays.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver License.
- Sufficient physical stamina for long hours indoors and outdoors under various conditions, including exposure to traffic, extreme heat, cold, rainfall, and snow.
- Ability to perform climbing, bending, crawling, and work in confined spaces and on uneven terrain.
- Ability to lift 25+ lbs.
- Must pass a physical and background check and have a satisfactory driving record per company policy.
Nice to Have
- Additional Certified Welding Inspector Certification.
- NACE / AMPP or SSPC Coatings Certification.
- ASNT NDT Level II or Level III Certification (VT, UT, MT, RT film interpretation).
- ICC Bolting certification.
