Geeks on Site is seeking an On-Call IT Field Technician to provide onsite technical support for residential and small business customers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This is a flexible independent contractor position where you choose which jobs to accept based on your availability and proximity.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
- Resolve boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
- Set up or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
- Replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
- Configure or connect printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
- Address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
- Perform general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
- Reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
- Install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
- Communicate clearly with customers and provide basic post-service support
- Document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed
What We're Looking For
- Ability to diagnose and repair hardware/software issues on Windows and macOS systems
- Experience resolving boot errors, OS issues, and login problems
- Experience setting up or troubleshooting Wi-Fi and wired internet connections
- Ability to replace or upgrade hardware (HDD, RAM, cooling fans, etc.)
- Experience configuring or connecting printers and scanners (Canon, HP, Brother, etc.)
- Ability to address common printer error codes (e.g., ink absorber, paper feed, connectivity)
- Experience performing general maintenance on multifunction printers (MFPs)
- Ability to reinstall operating systems using bootable USBs or recovery media
- Ability to install remote tools or shortcuts as requested
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly with customers
- Ability to document service visits and escalate complex issues as needed
