Role Overview
An experienced Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Specialist is required to support a federal client in maintaining safe and compliant work environments. The specialist will play a key role in identifying workplace risks, guiding safety practices, and ensuring adherence to OSHA standards. This position operates remotely within designated states and includes periodic travel to support on-site assessments and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive safety audits and inspections to detect potential hazards and recommend corrective measures in line with federal regulations.
- Offer expert guidance on safety and health matters to leadership, staff, and designated safety personnel.
- Investigate incidents and employee concerns related to unsafe conditions, propose corrective actions, and confirm resolution.
- Deliver safety training through various formats, including in-person sessions, group instruction, and online platforms.
- Support ergonomics and industrial hygiene assessments to address specialized workplace safety needs.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries and illnesses according to OSHA recordkeeping rules.
- Enter incident data and audit findings into safety management systems for tracking and reporting.
- Lead outreach initiatives to strengthen safety awareness and engagement across the organization.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience providing safety support to federal programs and working effectively with government stakeholders.
- Strong ability to interpret technical safety data and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Experience developing and delivering health and safety training, both in classroom and virtual settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety information systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and reporting accuracy.
- Ability to track program performance and assist with compliance reporting requirements.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position allowing remote work in Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, or Virginia. Up to 25% travel may be required to support field activities. The role is contingent upon contract award.
