The Network Engineer III plays a key role in managing and optimizing complex network infrastructures across enterprise environments. This position involves hands-on work with routers, switches, and firewalls from multiple vendors, including Cisco and Juniper, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity across LAN and WAN systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls in multi-vendor settings
- Monitor network performance to detect and resolve issues related to latency, packet loss, or outages
- Implement and support routing protocols including OSPF and BGP, along with VLAN segmentation and GRE tunneling
- Conduct root cause analysis for network incidents and document corrective actions
- Support firewall operations using platforms such as Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure upgrades and network expansion projects
- Travel to various locations for on-site installations, troubleshooting, and system validation
- Provide regular updates to program leads and support operations during non-standard hours as required
Required Qualifications
- Must obtain CCNA or JNCIA certification within 30 days of hire
- Demonstrated experience with network design, testing, and implementation methodologies
- Familiarity with the OSI model, TCP/IP suite, and UDP multicast protocols
- Proven troubleshooting skills using network diagnostics and analysis tools
- Experience with WAN technologies including SONET, MSPP, TACLANEs, and optical transport systems
- Working knowledge of firewall configuration and network security best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting
Preferred Skills
- CCNP or JNCIP certification
- Exposure to network automation using Ansible
- Familiarity with virtualized networking environments such as NSX and vSAN
- Understanding of DOD security standards, including STIG compliance and system accreditation processes
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Colorado Springs, CO. Candidates must be able to support operations during evenings and weekends when necessary. A Secret clearance is required, and the position must comply with DOD 8570 IAT Level II standards. Support is provided for obtaining required certifications upon hire.
