About the Role
The Medical Billing Order Entry Specialist ensures accurate and timely processing of test orders and insurance information, supporting the revenue cycle through precise data entry, verification, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Enter patient and insurance data accurately into billing systems
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage details
- Process test orders in compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Review requisition forms for completeness and accuracy
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve order discrepancies
- Respond to inquiries from clients regarding billing status
- Ensure timely submission of claims to insurance providers
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information
- Follow up on rejected or denied claims
- Update records to reflect changes in patient data
- Adhere to HIPAA and other compliance standards
- Support audits by providing accurate documentation
- Communicate with healthcare providers for order clarification
- Monitor order processing timelines
- Assist in training new team members
- Identify and report system issues promptly
- Maintain high accuracy in data entry tasks
- Work cross-functionally with laboratory and billing departments
- Follow standard operating procedures for order management
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Manage high volumes of orders during peak periods

- Stay current with changes in billing regulations
