About the Role
This role involves shaping end-to-end service experiences by leading design activities across discovery, alpha, and beta phases. The individual will work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver accessible, efficient, and user-focused digital services.
Responsibilities
- Lead service design initiatives from discovery through to live service delivery
- Conduct user research to understand needs and pain points
- Map user journeys and service blueprints to identify improvement opportunities
- Develop personas and user scenarios based on research findings
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
- Collaborate with product teams to integrate design into agile workflows
- Ensure compliance with accessibility and government design standards
- Facilitate co-design workshops with stakeholders and users
- Translate complex processes into intuitive service experiences
- Advocate for user needs throughout project lifecycles
- Work within multidisciplinary teams to align design with technical feasibility
- Define and apply consistent design systems and patterns
- Gather and analyze user feedback for iterative improvements
- Document design decisions and rationale
- Support the development of service assessments and design reviews
- Mentor junior designers and share best practices
- Stay current with public sector digital service trends
- Communicate design concepts to non-design stakeholders
- Manage design workload across multiple projects
- Ensure designs meet policy and regulatory requirements
- Integrate user-centered design into service strategy
- Use data to inform design choices
- Prototype service interactions for testing and validation
- Balance user needs with organizational objectives
- Contribute to service performance measurement and reporting
