About the Role

JD Bank is seeking a Mortgage Originator responsible for the origination and production of real estate mortgage and interim construction loans. Your primary objective is to achieve profitable loan production while ensuring clients receive financial products that best meet their needs and circumstances.

What You'll Do

  • Provide professional services to effectively originate, process, and close real estate loans.
  • Interview loan applicants and collect and analyze credit and financial data.
  • Develop an understanding of underwriting requirements to establish and negotiate credit terms.
  • Remain current and comply with all RESPA and other regulatory laws and guidelines.
  • Represent JD Bank professionally at all times.
  • Develop a business referral network through marketing, prospecting, and networking activities.
  • Participate in community events and build relationships with realtors and homebuilders.
  • Cross-sell JD Bank products and services to borrowers when feasible.
  • Provide backup support to other loan originators and processors, answer calls, and take messages as needed.
  • Adhere to all compliance and BSA/AML rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of financial institution experience with one year of management training and finance-related courses.
  • Advanced math aptitude and proficiency with analytical calculations.
  • Experience with FNMA/FHLMC/GNMA guidelines pertaining to Sellers/Servicing, including underwriting, appraisals, self-employment analysis, processing, and mortgage insurance.
  • Experience with LOS, Caylx, Byte, FNMA Desktop Underwriting/Desktop Origination, and GUS.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank loan programs and documentation.
  • Ability to handle high pressure, a high volume of work, and work the time necessary to complete duties.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Two years of experience operating a personal computer, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Well-groomed with excellent human relations skills and a high degree of poise and tact.
  • Ability to interact in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion and provide reliable personal transportation.
