Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co (M&T Bank) is seeking a Mortgage Customer Outreach Specialist I to join our team in Clanton, Alabama. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting on delinquent mortgage loans by contacting borrowers in the earliest stages of default, specifically those 60 days or less delinquent. You will initiate direct contact with consumers to resolve past due payments while maintaining strict adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.

What You'll Do

Initiate contact with consumers in the earliest stages of default on their mortgage loans to collect past due payments, while maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Collect consumer financial information, assess their ability to repay, identify appropriate solutions, and arrange repayment plans as necessary.
Handle inbound calls from various internal departments and consumers concerning all mortgage loan products in early stages of delinquency.
Communicate all applicable state-specific call compliance requirements on both inbound and outbound calls.
Identify suspect situations (e.g., fraud, lack of insurance) and investigate exposure, escalating issues to management with recommended actions.
Identify and resolve problematic account situations, referring more complex problems to your supervisor, and understand the workflow for account maintenance and corrections.
Adhere to applicable compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and issues raised by regulators.

Complete other related duties as assigned.
