The General Hospital Corporation is seeking a MGBCI Ambulatory Solid Tumor Oncology Physician Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive ambulatory care to solid tumor medical oncology patient populations. You'll be responsible for assessment, management, and development of care plans for patients across the trajectory of their illness.
What You'll Do
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
- Complete high quality and timely documentation.
- Participate in scheduled encounters and maintain capacity for urgent care for complex oncologic symptoms or treatment toxicities.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Ensure appropriate diagnostic procedures occur in a timely manner through coordination with other services.
- Perform/oversee specialized procedures particular to the select medical oncology population.
- Follow and manage patients (in collaboration with MD) enhancing continuity of care.
- Develop appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic and examination findings.
- Facilitate patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources.
- Facilitate and co-manage communications between physicians, patients, family, and staff.
- Order medications and write prescriptions, inclusive of standard of care antineoplastics and oncologic investigational new drugs.
- Participate in research efforts to advance knowledge and to promote research-based practice.
- Appreciate the complex medical environments of cancer patients including advanced malignancy or organ dysfunction.
- Maintain and update clinical knowledge and skills based on current health care practice/research.
What We're Looking For
- Master's Degree Physician Assistant required.
- Physician Assistant state license required.
- Minimum 2 years of current PA experience caring for an Oncology focused patient population required.
Nice to Have
- Experience in breast, GI and thoracic malignancies is strongly preferred.
- Experience in an ambulatory practice is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience signing antineoplastic orders strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Epic and EMRs strongly preferred.
- EPIC Inbasket management and telemedicine experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with clinical trials strongly preferred.
- Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred.
