BJ’s Wholesale Club is hiring a Merchandise Planner to develop monthly financial plans and forecasts that align with department strategy. You’ll be responsible for maximizing sales and profit while effectively turning inventory, using analytics to drive the most profitable product life cycle and ensuring the right products are available at the right time and place.
What You'll Do
- Develop monthly financial plans and forecasts aligned to department strategy.
- Work cross-functionally with the merchant in the forecasting process.
- Maximize both sales and profit while effectively turning inventory within the open to buy.
- Use analytics to drive most profitable product life cycle, including end of life management.
- Oversee and provide direction to allocation partners to ensure product availability meets member expectations and achieves sales/profitability.
- Support the creation of an optimal assortment and strategic flow plans.
- Build effective sales and inventory plans to drive profitability.
- Influence inventory productivity to include end of life activity.
- Identify business opportunities 1 to 6 months out by analyzing business trends.
- Partner with Buyer(s) to develop a monthly Department-level bottom-up forecast focusing on sales, margin, and inventory targets.
- Evaluate and communicate opportunities and risks, including reacting to sales trends and inventory flow.
- Suggest markdowns and promotions to achieve sales, margin, and inventory objectives.
- Build and execute new business opportunities by measuring results and providing recommendations.
- Ensure department inventory plans and flow are successfully executed for new club openings.
- Manage Demand forecasts within JDA Demand or BY LDE to ensure order optimization.
- Manage article level ladder plans and build up to financial plans.
What We're Looking For
- Understands financial metrics inclusive of sales, margin, inventory turn, weeks of supply.
- Strong problem solving, retail math, and analytical skills.
- Organizes thoughts and communicates credibly and concisely.
- Ability to present to and influence team members and business partners using relevant data.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as cross functionally.
- Critical thinker, that can interact professionally with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel Skills.
- Planning software experience.
Nice to Have
- 2-5 years’ experience.
- Strong knowledge of market trends and ability to apply to categories planned.
- Desire to Coach, Mentor, and Onboard.

- Starting salary from $60,500.00.
