Parsons Transportation Group is hiring a Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a construction project. You must be willing to relocate to Kwajalein Island, Marshall Islands.
What You'll Do
- Disassemble and overhaul gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and other assemblies.
- Follow checklists to complete preventive maintenance, inspections, and servicing on equipment per client orders and manufacturer specifications.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, and air-operated hoists, winches, and floor cranes.
- Replace worn and broken parts. Clean and spot paint according to client expectations.
- Grind valves, adjust brakes, tighten bolts, and align wheels.
- Use hoists, wrenches, gauges, drills, grinders, timing machines, and diagnostic equipment.
- Retain records of time and materials used.
- Perform operational tests and adjustments on air conditioning and heating units following client directives and manufacturer guidelines.
- Review Blueprints and Tech Orders to determine part locations, duct routing, air pressure, and temperatures.
- Set controls to various temperatures and pressures to determine if operation is satisfactory.
- Observe thermometers and manometers, receive data from tests, and compare system performance with specifications.
- Adjust thermostats, mixing and check valves, airflow devices, and ducting. Measure compressor pressure to determine efficiency.
- Test, adjust, and repair hydraulic units and assemblies such as valves, pumps, and regulators.
- Fabricate replacement parts from stock materials, using broken parts as patterns.
- Conduct stress tests and load tests to ensure proper safety margins are met.
- Install, adjust, maintain, and repair gasoline turbine engines and support equipment following Tech Orders and manufacturer specifications.
- Install wiring and tubing between equipment, switchboards, and control panels.
- Analyze intricate technical requirements of customer and determine feasibility of modifications to present equipment.
What We're Looking For
- Typically 10+ years of related experience.
- Must be capable of working from stands and ladder well above ground.
- Must be able to lift 70 pounds.
- Must have a valid US passport.
Nice to Have
- Prior US federal government project and overseas remote location experience.
