AbbVie is looking for a Medical Science Liaison to provide scientific and technical leadership within key academic centers. In this role, you will build and maintain credible relationships with thought leaders, deliver scientific insights, and support our medical and clinical activities with integrity.
What You'll Do
- Provide scientific and technical leadership to build credible relationships with thought leaders and external experts.
- Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence in key academic centers by facilitating research and educational initiatives.
- Serve as a point of contact for thought leaders regarding scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area.
- Deliver credible scientific presentations to physicians, individually or in groups.
- Actively profile the medical landscape and continuously update knowledge on products, treatment trends, unmet needs, and clinical trials.
- Collect and provide meaningful medical insights to medical and commercial organizations.
- Provide strategic input into Brand plans and develop local Medical and Thought Leader Interaction plans.
- Deliver scientifically meaningful medical program proposals and ensure flawless execution.
- Participate in identifying thought leaders for collaborative efforts such as research or advisory roles.
- Support internal teams to develop their scientific expertise through presentations.
- Provide scientific support for publications to thought leaders and internal teams.
- Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences and collaborate on summaries of key data.
- Contribute to the development and review of medical content within promotional and non-promotional materials.
- Assist in the initiation, oversight, and follow-up of assigned clinical studies and medical projects.
- Act as the point of contact for Investigator Initiated Study (IIS) ideas and requests.
- Assist physicians with requests for access to company medicines on a named patient or compassionate use basis.
What We're Looking For
- Medical, PharmD or PhD degree with experience in a specific Disease Area or a broad medical background, OR a Science graduate with substantial and relevant pharmaceutical experience.
- Experience working in a scientific and/or clinical research environment.
- Experience translating scientific or clinical data into compelling messages for physicians.
- Experience effectively communicating scientific and/or clinical data to research or healthcare professionals.
- Experience developing peer-to-peer relationships with top-ranking medics, scientists, or healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new subject areas and environments.
- Strong commitment to compliance with relevant rules and procedures, and to scientific quality and integrity.
- Superior disease area knowledge and understanding of scientific publications.
- In-depth knowledge of a scientific or clinical area.
- Knowledge of clinical trial design and process.
- Knowledge of the National Healthcare System and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
Nice to Have
- A background in immunology disease, with preferred experience in Rheumatology.
- Experience in medical affairs or a related field, along with experience working closely with the pharmaceutical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant AbbVie products.
