AdventHealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team. In this role, you will perform clinical laboratory testing, guide technical staff, and contribute to our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ. What You'll Do
- Guide technicians and support staff, resolve customer service issues, and support clinical education.
- Perform pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, specimen processing, and quality control.
- Conduct all expected tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately according to established standards.
- Complete post-analytical activities, report results, and provide technical support for laboratory testing across all age groups.
- Participate in the evaluation of new laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Assist with data collection and special projects as assigned.
- Document and submit required laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics and reports.
- May act as a preceptor, training new employees and students and documenting their progress.
- Participate in proficiency testing, adhering to all federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Follow and ensure adherence to safety policies, including PPE use and hazardous waste handling.
- Maintain current professional knowledge and accept accountability for staying informed.
- Perform various support activities to facilitate the operation of your assigned department.
What We're Looking For
- An Associate's degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
- Or, successful completion of at least a 50-week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
- Or, qualified and served as high complexity testing personnel on or before April 24, 1995 in a CLIA-certified laboratory, and have done so continuously since December 28, 2024.
- Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing and processes performed in your assigned area.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to varying priorities, and direct workflow with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain equipment and records, perform quality assessment activities, and operate computer systems to maintain patient documentation.
- Ability to educate and train new staff in a medical laboratory setting.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A commitment to follow and ensure adherence to corporate compliance, all regulations, and protecting patient confidentiality.

- 1+ years of clinical lab experience.

- Compensation range: $23.71 - $48.50 per hour
- $10,000 sign-on bonus (with a 1-year commitment)
