Role Overview
As Regulatory Counsel for South Korea, you will serve as a key legal advisor to Binance’s local business operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with Korean laws and regulations, particularly in the financial technology and cryptocurrency sectors. You will provide practical legal counsel across commercial, corporate, labor, intellectual property, and regulatory domains, supporting day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver legal guidance on Korean commercial, corporate, and labor law, including contract negotiation and risk assessment.
- Identify emerging legal and regulatory risks and develop proactive strategies to address them.
- Stay current with changes in national financial regulations and interpret their impact on business activities.
- Prepare, review, and finalize agreements with third parties, ensuring alignment with both business goals and compliance standards.
- Lead compliance initiatives, including licensing efforts and engagement with local regulatory agencies.
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries and assist in preparing filings and documentation required by Korean authorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 to 8 years of legal experience, preferably in regulatory roles within payments, fintech, or digital assets.
- Proven understanding of Korean financial regulations and experience interacting with regulatory bodies.
- Background in compliance programs, risk assessments, and due diligence within a regulated sector.
- Ability to operate independently in a global, fast-paced environment while collaborating across teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to legal challenges under time constraints.
- In-house legal experience in financial services, technology, or related industries is a significant advantage.
