Visana Health is hiring a Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to ensure accurate billing and coding for our virtual women's health clinic. You will manage claims submission, payment collection, and compliance with healthcare regulations, supporting our mission to redesign women's healthcare.
What You'll Do
- Review all claims prior to submission to ensure coding aligns with clinical protocols and strategic goals.
- Review and process medical records for billing, ensuring accuracy and complete documentation.
- Manage medical billing processes, including submitting claims and following up on outstanding payments.
- Collect payments for services, communicating with patients and insurance providers.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in patient records or billing issues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Prepare charts for upcoming patient appointments, including verifying and updating insurance information.
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems.
- Experience in medical collections (collecting payments for medical services).
- Experience in a medical office environment, particularly in billing or coding roles.
- Proficient in medical coding practices, including familiarity with ICD-10 codes.
- Knowledge of various medical billing systems and software applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, providers, and insurers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Nice to Have
- Experience with risk adjustment coding (CRC).
- Advanced education (post-secondary education or specialized certifications).
