Join MPF Federal as a Medical Assistant - Questionnaire Review Specialist and play a key role in supporting Veterans and Service Members. In this remote position, you will review and process medical documentation for disability claims, ensuring exams meet regulatory standards.
What You'll Do
- Navigate a proprietary electronic medical record system to evaluate and process patient health information.
- Review examination documentation, test results, and assessments, corroborating details via phone interviews with Service Members and Veterans.
- Collaborate with providers, Veterans, and Service Members via phone to ensure exams meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Identify emergent behavioral health issues and initiate appropriate intervention.
- Document test results and complete system-generated tasks to process exam documentation.
- Educate and support providers, Veterans, and Service Members on navigating medical history information for claims.
- Identify and evaluate exam documentation requiring immediate follow-up for behavioral health concerns.
- Interface via telephone and email to retrieve required Disability Benefits Questionnaire information and provide education on protocol.
What We're Looking For
- Vocational or Technical Training/Education in a Medical related field (Medical Assistant, LPN, HIT, EMT, Medic, Corpsman) or completion of Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Human Body Systems, and Common Diseases courses.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Knowledge of healthcare documentation and medical, behavioral, and psychological terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong telephone etiquette.
- Working knowledge of technical writing.
- Ability to identify lab results and ancillary services and interpret medical documentation.
- Experience using a computer and Microsoft Office (Word) to create, copy, edit, send, and save documents.
- Experience working in an Electronic Medical Record system.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm CT OR 10:00am to 7:00pm CT.
- A distraction-free, dedicated home office space with a door for HIPAA compliance.
- Access to high-speed internet (cable, fiber optic) and a hard-wired Ethernet connection (no Wi-Fi only, satellite, or radio).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass a Public Trust Background Check & Drug Screening per federal guidelines.
