Trane Technologies is hiring a Medical Assistant to deliver quality and compassionate care within our Family Practice. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performing a vital mix of administrative and clinical tasks to support patient care.
What You'll Do
- Escort patients to rooms and prepare them for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Obtain and record vital signs and patient history in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Prepare for, set up, and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments according to established protocols.
- Prepare, administer, and document oral and parenteral medications and immunizations as ordered.
- Document all care provided during the patient visit in the EHR.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Actively monitor and respond to patient requests via telephone encounters, In Basket messages, and MyChart within defined time frames.
- Enter medication, radiology, and lab orders in the EHR per protocol for provider sign-off.
- Discharge patients by providing after-visit instructions to patients and/or caregivers as directed.
- Prepare medication refill requests for provider review and signature in the EHR.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Current BLS-C certification upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.
- Successful completion of all components of Ambulatory orientation as defined by Henry Ford Health.
- Must meet one of the following education/experience pathways:
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum); OR
- Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without externship but with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience in the past five years; OR
- Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience; OR
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); OR
- Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years; OR
- Military trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years.
Nice to Have
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with EPIC (Electronic Medical Record).
