Allina Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to join the Functional Medicine department at the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing. You will play a key role supporting providers and nursing staff in delivering timely, quality patient care.
What You'll Do
- Room patients, manage patient flow, and obtain accurate medical information.
- Collect patient data via interviews, questionnaires, and vital signs, documenting everything in the EMR.
- Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and processing.
- Facilitate obtaining lab and imaging results, notifying providers of abnormalities.
- Manage electronic medical records inboxes and respond to messages as delegated.
- Provide backup for front desk duties, including patient registration and scheduling.
- Perform patient care tasks as delegated by the Provider or RN, including injections.
- Assist with procedures and provide patients with information on test preparation and treatment plans.
- Coordinate test results with the provider or RN and prepare medication refill information for review.
- Assist with patient transportation and contribute to a safe environment for all.
- Report equipment malfunctions or environmental risks and follow all safety policies and standard work procedures.
- Clean, stock, and maintain inventory for exam, medication, and supply rooms.
What We're Looking For
- Must be 18 years of age with the education or experience needed to meet required competencies.
- Non-certified applicants with less than six months of Medical Assistant experience must have graduated from an accredited school with a clinical externship.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or completion of Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire.
Nice to Have
- Previous Medical Assistant experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from the American Association of Medical Assistants.
